The reason we get to sleep in January 14th is because of one man who stood up for what is right. He thought all people should be treated equally. At the time, you were judged based on the color of your skin. But MLK did not sit and watch as people were discriminated based on the color of their skin.

My Opinion

MLK was a brave man who stood up for what was right. Now we have off for MLK day which is on January 14.

It's Magic!

How do things glow in the dark?

You might think it's magic, but it's just science! This type of science is called luminescence. It requires chemicals that store energy when exposed to light. These are called phosphors, or also called phosphorescence. You have to expose these type of chemicals to light before they can work because the chemicals have to charge in the sunlight before they can glow in the dark.

My Opinion

I think that the science behind glow in the dark items is awesome. According to Wonderopolis, " these glow in the dark items need to be in light before they can work because they have special chemicals that store energy in them when in light."

The History

In 1893 Abner Doubleday created the legendary sport, baseball. It was created in Cooperstown New York. He claimed he had nothing to do with baseball, but AJ Springfield uncovered the mystery.

My Opinion

Baseball is a legendary sport. It has been around since the 18th century and people of all age play till this day. Baseball is known all over the US and there are lots of baseball events you can attend.

The Bugatti Veyron was classified as the fastest car in the world. It reaches 267 miles per hour. Which set the new record beating the old record by 11 miles per hour. The Veyron has 64 valves and its engine is two combined into one.

My Opinion

I think this car is crazy. The first five of them were sold out within the first 20 minutes. This car is worth 2.4 million dollars.

Who Will Be Victorious?

Seattle V.S. Denver

Super Bowl 48 is on its way. It will be between the Seattle Seahawks and the Denver Broncos. Seattle has a better record, but according to stats Manning is a better quarter back. Both teams had advanced through many rough games and now it is down to this.

My Opinion

I think that Seattle will pull off the win because in my opinion they have a better team with better players. They also did better in the regular season.

Basketball History

Basketball was created in 1891 by a Canadian physical education teacher. The first rules were created in 1892. At first players would shoot the ball into an iron bucket, but as years past the hammock style basket was made which is still used today. James Naismith was born in Almonte Ontario. He worked at the YMCA. One day he picked up a soccer ball and dribbled it across the gym and shot it into a bucket.

My Opinion

I think basketball is a great sport. It keeps you in shape while you have fun at the same time. Basketball is a very known sport in the U.S. and is still becoming known more and more.
